One of our PTS core values is commitment to community. Because ethics are empty without action, we realize our values by working together to pursue justice, improve our community, and uplift those in need. We work from a two-pronged approach.

Social Action

Direct service to those in need, partnering with social service organizations like  CALL Primrose and Jewish Family and Children’s Service through activities such as Mitzvah Days, food drives, blood drives, clothing drives, toiletry drives, and others.

Social Justice

Advocating for public policy that attacks root causes of inequality and advances Jewish values in our local community, our state, and across the country. Areas of focus have included racial justice, criminal justice, voter engagement, housing affordability, and mental health access and stigma reduction.

The California Religious Action Center & PTS

The California Religious Action Center (RAC-CA) brings together the Reform Jewish congregations and communities of California to organize powerfully across lines of race, class, and faith. Read on for our current social justice initiatives with the RAC.

Current Initiative:

Climate Tzedek will work with local and statewide partners to build Jewish, interfaith, and multiracial political power to implement just solutions to the climate crisis. Climate change affects all of us, and while it is about the future, it is also already here. Now is the time to put it at the center of Jewish and congregational life, and to respond to this physical, spiritual, and political challenge.

Brit Olam

In 2015, PTS signed onto The Brit Olam, Covenant with Our World, along with 250 other Reform congregations across the country. The Brit Olam is a guidepost and a framework designed to help our congregation move social justice closer to the center of our community communities. Read more here.

Other Partnerships

In addition to the California Religious Action Center, we gain support through partnerships with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism and a variety of local organizations. PTS is a founding member of the Peninsula Multifaith Coalition.
