Learners build a foundation for Jewish learning through a storybook curriculum. Each grade will focus on a big question and use stories to learn about Jewish holidays and Jewish life.

  • First Day: Saturday, September 9th with Opening Family Havdalah Experience
  • Tuition: $678 for Pre-K; $1150 for K-2nd Grade

Learners focus on four consecutive topics during these formative years: Later Tanakh texts including Prophets and Ketuvim, Jewish ethics, Jewish lifecycle rituals, and Jewish law. Learners will also begin meeting in Hebrew groups to learn their Aleph Bet and prayers.

  • First Day: Saturday, September 9th with Opening Family Havdalah Experience
  • Tuition: $1465 for 3rd Grade; $1570 for 4th and 5th Grade

Middle schoolers learn about the responsibilities that come with becoming b'nai mitzvah. 6th graders start thinking deeply about their Jewish identities as they enter early adulthood. 7th graders learn about modern Jewish history including Zionism, the Holocaust, and the founding of the State of Israel. 6th graders continue in Hebrew groups.

  • First Day: Saturday, September 9th with Opening Family Havdalah Experience

Learners choose two electives and meet on Sundays. Elective topics range from Jewish texts, Jewish history, Jewish culture, and to various perspectives on Israel. Chavayah will also have access to exclusive field trips, speakers, and volunteer opportunities.

  • First Day: Sunday, October 1st
  • Tuition: $1400 for 8-10th Grade; $650 for 11-12th Grade

Once per month, students complete two-hour sessions of class with Rabbi Feder and end the year with a culminating confirmation service. Over dinner and conversation during the class, confirmands-in-progress will explore how Jews think about, talk about, and understand God, as well as the unfolding relationship of the Jewish people and God throughout time, spaces, and observance levels.  We’ll also explore how we can connect with God through prayer and the doing of social justice. Confirmation students may also elect to attend the Religious Action Center L'Taken Social Justice Seminar in Washington, D.C. with their peers.

As part of becoming a confirmand, we ask for teen involvement in some form at PTS outside of the regular class. This can take form in the following manners:

  • Becoming a participating member of PARTY
  • Joining a Rosh Hodesh group that meets once per month
  • Attending Sunday Chavayah classes (Chavayah is an included option and offered at no extra cost to confirmation students)
  • Join the Madrichim Program by becoming a Madrich/a on Sunday mornings when Youth Education is in session

Questions about supplemental teen involvement as part of the confirmation experience can be directed to Lauren at lsilva @sholom.org.

  • First Day: Sunday, October 8th
  • Tuition: $1,400; Chavayah class included at no extra cost if desired (please specify when registering if also participating in Chavayah)
