Oppose a Federal anti-Trans Sports Ban
Across the country, 18 states ban transgender students from participating in sports consistent with their gender identity. While this number is already staggeringly high, the U.S. House of Representatives will soon vote on a federal bill that would ban transgender women and girls from participating in school sports teams consistent with their gender identity nationwide. Like all kids, trans kids just want to play sports with their friends. Not only would this bill deprive trans girls of this opportunity, but it would also harm their mental health and rob them of many key lessons kids learn from sports, including hard work, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
This federal anti-trans sports ban is just the beginning of the anti-LGBTQ+, specifically anti-trans, legislation expected to be introduced in Congress. Such bills are discriminatory and must be stopped. Tell your Representatives to oppose the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023 (H.R. 734).
