Take action

PTS periodically encourages the community to take action on issues that impact the quality of life in the US and Israel, using our social justice and synagogue values as a guide. Below are current calls to action.

Religious People Support LGBTQ+ Protections

This #Faith4Pride, religious people across the country in support of nationwide non-discrimination protections. Communities of faith across the United States are working to ensure that the equal rights and basic dignity of all people are protected. Did you know? Most federal civil rights protections do not include sexual orientation and gender identity.
The Equality Act would establish non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ folks in employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, federal funding, credit, and the jury system. Take action here

Support Ukraine - end California's $2 billion dollar investment in Russia

By prohibiting public investment in Russia and Belarus, California can take a principled and moral stance against the invasion of Ukraine. SB 1328 would prohibit the boards of specified state and local public retirement systems from investing public employee retirement funds in a company with business operations in Russia or Belarus or a company that supplies military equipment to Russia or Belarus. Click here to show your support.

Urge you senator to pass the Women's Health Protection Act

It’s time to codify abortion rights in law. Urge the Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would establish a legal right for health care providers to provide, and for their patients to receive, abortion services free of restrictions and bans that delay or obstruct access to care. The House passed the bill in September; now it’s time for the Senate to act. Take action now.

Call on Congress to support Refugee Resettlement

The world is facing the worst refugee crisis in global history. More than 82 million people worldwide have left home to escape conflict and persecution, surpassing the previous record of displaced persons after World War II. Refugees—those forced to flee their country for fear of persecution, war, or violence—account for about 26 million of those displaced.

Act now and urge your members of Congress to ensure the U.S. retains its role as a global leader by cosponsoring the GRACE Act.
